      I have a '72 Chevelle and I am a Police Officer.
I find that the majority of people who have "sooped-up" muscle cars have respect for them. They know how much money they cost to restore and what the value is. They don't want to screw around and crash it. The mojority of the owner of these cars are older men and women.
My Chevelle has a ton of HP and it is in great condition and it is worth about 30 grand. That's more than a new car.
As long as a muscle car is not doing anything dangerous or outlandish, I leave them alone.
Ricers on the otherhand get my FULL attention.

hahaha....yea...just something about the sound of a ****ed off hornet that gets your attention....and something about the growl of a v8 muscle car that rests your soul...i know this was such a random topic, but i wanted to know what every one though. no one else has an opinion on this?

          I like cars, always have.

I like cars that are street legal much more than those which are not street legal when they are operated on public roadways. I keep my equipement up, it's all legal, and I have the correct tags and inspections, I expect no less of anyone else operating on the highways that me and my family and friends use.

It's not that I dislike a man's Mustang or Camaro when I write him a ticket (or tickets) for tinted license covers or too dark window tint or no mufflers or for having a Nitrous Bottle hooked up or dead inspection or slick rear tires or no windshield wipers or defective brake lamps or too tall of a hood scoop or excessive slack in the steering gear or too small of a steering wheel or a radar detector or speeding or no insurance or improper registration or for objects suspended within the driver's field of vision or etc ...
... nor is it a sign that I dislike a man's Mustang or Camaro when I call a wrecker to tow it off the highway under some circumstances, to a storage facility or the man's home.

It's simply because the car doesn't belong on the highway like that. I might really like the car, and do it just the same.

If I'm going to do the job, I'm going to be fair about it if nothing else.

2005 GTO. Doesn't cause too much of a ruckus but when unleashed on the track...she screams for attention.

I have been building and racing Older Iron since High School. I have restored a 70' Dart. and 80' El-Camino, 69' Camaro, and several other Mopars.

We don't dislike fast cars, most of us love them, so long as they are driven adn cared for properly, I hate them when your 16 year old is running around town in you baby without a care for the money and time and devotion it took to put this treasure back together.
                        Just my thoughts though.

yea i cant stand that either...i hate seeing some kid whos daddy just bought him a new cobra...and then you hand him his snake guts from all over the track..."daddy, i got beat by the batmobile!!!" i would love to see some of these cars. a little off topic, but some of yall have the older cars. my older neighbor, has a 69 camaro ss, complete drag car, with blue and purple camelion(sorry for the spelling, its 5 am and im exhausted), a red, 72ish nova, also a drag car and a 70 i wanna say, cherry red chevelle ss, also a drag car..they are beautiful..he builds them, his wife races them..and shes like 60! but yea, i think if you dont abuse it on the streets, there isnt much of a problem. i'm just trying to prove a point to some people that officers do NOT hate the cars..just the ignorant people that drive them. and as for the nitrous bottle being hooked up in the car. there is a really good hiding spot...wanna know where it is? hahaha

Two Mustangs, an 06 GT and an 85 GT that is mostly used for shows and Cruise-ins. I see that your from Mechanicsville, so I'm sure you've been to Atlee and 301 on Saturday nights...I'm usually there when I'm off

I honestly think that most cops are car guys at heart. Many of us started out in hot rods and still hold a special place in our hearts for them. I always take a few moments to appreciate a sweet ride as I'm issuing the cites.

Anybody remember the Denis Leary commercials for Speed network when they first started up? He plays a motor cop and deals with various car issues. A favorite, he pulls over a cherry GTO and asks the guy how if he knows how fast he was going. The guy says "55." Leary replies, "55! You make me sick! You're driving this car and you're only going 55 mph. You don't deserve this car!"
