do police officers have a tough time being able to commit to things outside of the job such as teams or clubs that have a set practice time because of the hours they work?

I coach kids baseball. Its easier if I am on 1sts, but i tend to gravitate towards 3rds so its a bit harder. I stick to assistant so it not as bad when i cant be there.
I dont do team sport anymore like softball or whatever. no time or patience. It takes a Wolf.......Comment

You have to work around your own personal schedule...
If you work nights you should be able to sleep during the day... then have your evenings free (to do anything you want) until work...
If you work evenings you should have your days free and (vice-versa).
If something is predominantly an evening activity (which most things are) and you are stuck on a shift 2pm-10pm....
then yea, it stinks...Retired 02/01/13Comment

My activities outside of work revolve around my work and sleep schedule. I work mids and have no choice but to be on mids right now due to seniority. I play in a couple of leagues of softball in the spring and summer in the evenings. I also play walleyball every Thursday and every other Saturday. I sleep when I get home in the morning so these activites work out well because they are in the evenings.Comment
