  • Capital murder of police officer... Life?

Hey guys, real sad news about the Ole Miss Police officer that died on Saturday. Does anyone know if this guy will get life or better death? What is the punishment for this kind of a crime?

    David

If the dirt bag gets convicted of Capital Murder then yes DEATH penalty could be on the table. But some states dont have the death penalty so itsan automatic life w/o parole.
He should be taken out back of the police station... Or put in the ring with some of the Ultimate Fighter guys...
    I got nothing for now

e-man are you insinuating that the prisoner should be escorted outside the police station to take a bullet to the back of the head? How can you uphold the law if you want to murder your prisoners, execution style, in cold blood?

well let me contradict you, you are not a police officer(me either), you dont know waht they go through, so until you step into their shoes, I would just keep my mouth shut until you do, at least tahts what i do, you can express your opinion, but it is just that YOUR opinion, it is a brother hood, and All give some, some give all. Let the officers grieve for their fellow officers in a way that they wish, it doesnt exactly mean they want to do what they said in a posting online they re just showing their anger in a way poeple will understand in words as we cant see their true emotions they are feeling. So I thank all polcie officers for what they do, it is an unthanked service many times, so here it is again THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE GUYS. And yes that SOB should be taken care of, in one way or another.

Varga, as a Quaker, I respect officer's rights to grief, but I can not stand idley by when grieving = death threats. The brotherhood of officer's is indeed deep, but not so secretive. I do have an idea of what these officers go through. I still don't believe that lethal force ever the best option.

What else would you do if you took them "out back"? Take them back inside? It sounds exactly like "take ol' yeller out back".

I will not dignify your taunts with a response.

Good lord. 321, grow a brain. Ever heard of someone, say, with a loud dog next door say that someone oughtta feed it a juicy steak with a little "special sauce on it"? Ever had inpure thoughts about the idiot who cut you off on the freeway and almost made you and your family crash? Ever had a fleeting thought of vengeance about anything in your life? Or are you a complete pacifist in all regards?

Do you really expect that everyone who expresses such a thought in the heat of the moment will actually go out and fulfill it? Or maybe, by some stretch of the imagination, are they just blowing off steam? Wow, that sort of cathartic release sure seems better than sitting on those emotions until they explode outwards, don't you think?

Just because someone expresses a thought like that certainly does not mean that he actually intends on becoming the beast he's sworn his life to protecting the sheep from. He's angry, and rightfully so. When's the last time you experienced the violent death of a member of your brotherhood, knowing that it could be you, or your partner, next time?

                    Get a grip.

Open your eyes to reality and the processes of human psychology. Until then, don't come on here and play holier-than-thou. You're judging people of whom you are nowhere near a peer.

By the way, your belief that lethal force is never the best option is exactly the mindset that would get you, your partner, or an innocent bystander killed. Perhaps you've heard that bad guys DO in fact feel that lethal force is often the best option. How, exactly, would you address someone as they're in the process of murdering you or someone else? Perhaps ask them to drop their weapon, go for a cup of tea, and discuss it? My guess is that you'd never hear the bullet that killed you.

If, on the other hand, you're speaking to lethal force as punishment subsequent to a conviction, we (at least, my brothers who work in Corrections,) are obligated by law to carry out the will of the people. If you don't like it, change the law. We don't make them, we simply do what the people ask of us within the guidelines that they establish. Don't blame the messenger, or the worker.

Edit: added a couple of thoughts.

firstly.... God bless the fallen officer and famliy of..

and secondly... 321, "take someone out back" doesn't neccesarily mean to KILL someone. Get your head out of your arse thank yewww verah much. It can mean take him out back for a sound lashing.... Also, if you read the rest of E-man's comment, you would see that he followed his "out back" statement with an "Or put him in the ring with some of the Ultimate Fighter guys..." Which to the average person, would imply that E-man would like to see the Crackmonkey who killed the officer, get the living Hell beaten out of him. Observation skills my obtuse friend. Observation.

Stay Safe everyone, and NO MORE THREAD HIJACKING (Uh HEMMM 321 ... its disrespectful.)

                        Here's my 2 cents:

The law in every state should be the same regarding killing a cop.

You kill a cop, you receive the death penalty...period.

It is sad that in some places (including SF) the district attorney won't seek the death penalty for cop killers. And even sadder that these pukes get a "feather in their cap", once they go to prison for doing so!

And they say the justice system is unfair!
This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made.

WOW, didnt know my sarcasm would cause such frustration.
My comment of taking him out back was NOT a desire to execute scumbags in the back of the head. It was a comment {albeit maybe stupid comment out of frustration} about how sometimes street justice is the only justice we see. Do my job for 12 years and see how a guy can get kicked out of a bar, then when engaged in a fight with uniform cop grab the cops gun AND PUT IT TO HIS HEAD AND GO "CLICK" and somehow the gun JAMS. Yeah and that turd got convicted of a simple misdemeanor ATTEMPTED ASSAULT. Do I want him executed? Hmmm I think he shoulda got taken out back and smacked around...and convicted of the actual crime of felony assault on police. BUT since this world is riddled with liberals and "Who you knows" that aint gonna happen. Read it how you see fit.
I post here based on experience, sometimes I post alittle too fast and dont re-read my posts, THIS IS NOT A POLICE REPORT OR TRIAL here.
Ive never been accused of excessive force, Ive never lied in trial, Ive never been suspended because of something improper...

After checking 321's profile I see why he is angry at me. The Penguins are in FIRST place and the Philthadelphia Flyers are in last...
See thats sarcasm. Do I really think you are angry with me or think that I wanna execute someone.????
Plus a 15 y.o. counselor? hmmm something smells fishy...

I'll just respond to the last post here. My post was, also, typed too quickly. I was simply very shocked, that an LEO would post such things, when the image if LEOs is such an important thing. This was discussed in another thread about LEO/myspace. Thes story about the gun jamming is crazy though man. That guy got off waaay too easy. I don't watch hockey, the flyers are terrible. And I am a Counselor. I've worked with 3-5 year olds for the past two summers. Though I've had to the opportunity to work with much older kids. It's a fun job, though the pay is terrible. (210 hrs of work = $425 after tax)
