life after oral boards

Well I'm trying to get hired on anywhere that will hire me with only corrections exp. I've gone through written, physical and oral boards, and after the oral boards I get the letter in the mail that says "Thanks for your time and intrest for wanting to work for there agency, but we have selected other applicants to move on to the next phase." I know that just starting the app. process abd nailing everything perfect is very rare and it only helps for the next interviews, these were the agencies that I wanted to work for the most. I'm going to apply for patrol reserves wherever I can, if anyone has any kind of advice or anything that could help myself or anyone else that happens to read this post I would put it all to good use.

do you remember anything specific in the orals where everything just seemed to turn south?

not off the top of my head. One of the oral boards was a panel of 7 and a group of 5 applicants, first time in one of these so i was already nervous a out that. I told the panel the truth and it seemed to me that thier reaction was, that I should have answered with something else.....again no patrol exp just corrections exp. Mabye this is just part of going through the steps of getting hired and I made too big of a deal about not getting through to the next phases.

no problem, i've never heard of a board like that. mine were just me and the officers. but you do just have to grin and bear it. every piece of this process is a test. good luck.

cool thanks again. I got a phone call on sunday night around 7:15 from the S.O. that i applied for and due to the number of applicaints that have moved on to the interview phase they are doing screening interviews with 2 LT.'s. I have a screening with them on Oct.19th @10:30am. This is also the S.O. that I worked in the jail with so hopefully that helps a little.

You seem to have an advantage there with the county. You have experience with the office and they know how you work. Plus, it also helps they are offering five positions. I was also going to be interviewing there until I received my offer from another agency. Until now, I had horrible luck on my boards. Good luck.
