Hello,

The other day i went shooting, and the person who worked there told me that police officers were able to purchase banned weapons here in california.

Does anyone know anything about this? I would be interested in purchasing a new rifle if it were true.

In a round about way that is true.

You can purchase weapons that are on the California DOJ ban list if you are going to use it for duty use.

You need a letter on department letterhead giving you permission to purchase the firearm. The weapon will have the "Law Enforcement Use Only" stamped on it.
