  • How is the Poly Scored????

I plan on telling the truth for everything but what if I get nervous on a question and they think Im lying, would I fail it because I missed one question. I take it Monday and Im kind of nervous already.

Just took mine for Fairfax County Virginia and the tester asked me 12 questions 3 different times in random orders as to prevent a "spot response" he called it. So if a question gets you nervous the first time you hear it, probably if you are not lying the next 2 times you will level out. This was my only poly ever so I am by no means an expert, but I passed mine and he said that the first time I was asked one of them I spiked a little but then the next two times for that question it didn't spike at all. Just relax and clear your mind. Good luck!

Relax and tell the truth. Sometimes people fail because they are to nervous. The machine is reading body signals. sweat, heart rate, muscle tension, etc. So if you are nervous but at the same time telling the truth. You can give a bad reading. So the most important things are to relax and tell the truth. Most poly's go as Seal6770 mentioned. About 10- 12 questions 3 different times with short breaks in between. They compare all the readings that's how you are scored. But you will probably spend your first couple of hours filling out a long questionaire.
Your life is an open book, what message are you giving the readers.

I Believe Their Is A Website, Something Like Polygraph.com, That Could Help You With "grading" Also, Do A Search On The Threads, I Know We Just Talked About This Not Too Long Ago.

My Opinion Is That I Dont Think Its "graded" I Believe They Are Looking For Deception Cues That Are Measured By Your Heart Rate, Muscle Tension, Etc..

The Key Is To Obviously Not Lie About Anything...

Good Chance That You Have Done Nothing Worse Than The Next Guy In Line Waiting To Take The Poly.. Let Him Lie And Get Dq'ed, Not You ...

          Good Luck, Hope This Helps!

To be honest I don't really think I should. I went in there not knowing at ALL which questions I would be "hooked up" for. He just asked me orally about 250 questions and then lumped my answers into a question for the poly. For example: "Beyond what we've discussed, have you........" Getting things out in the open is supposed to pave the way for you to pass. That of course doesn't guarantee that you will be accepted just that you don't fail. I know it sounds redundant and parent-like, but the best advice is really be open and honest and get all your skeletons out so you don't think about them during the hooked up portion of the exam.

Actually, the polygraph examiner needs you to think about the questions when you are hooked up to the machine. If you don

I to am confused with why they would ask something like this. The "use," buying and selling of pornography is legal if you are 18 or over. Do they figure most people have participated in these actions at some point in their life and they just want to see if you are lying, assuming you are if you deny it?

All I was asked in the ENTIRE exam (on and off machine) was have I ever been involved in downloading, viewing, or distributing child pornography. They didn't even ask about standard (?) pornography. I have only been through one exam, though. My experiences are very limited.

QUESTION: How is the Poly Scored????

ANSWER: If the ploygrapher is wiping ink off the walls and ceiling after the exam, you didn't score so good.
