  • Strange experiences at work

Does anyone have strange, unexplained or creepy stories to share?

Especially those working the late shift and/or alone?

A Hawaii policeman wrote a book explaining how he was once writing reports late at night by an old convalescent home.

He had the car light on, and outside it was pitch black.

Suddenly he heard a noise to his right....he looked outside and saw nothing.

Immediately he turned to his left and standing right outside his door staring at him was an old man in white, white clothes, white face...and a long white beard. He got the hell out of there.

Dude that'd kinda freak me out too, but uh what if he's just some alzeimers patient?

POS Lawyer: So officer Aloha did you see my clients father that night before he got lost and died of hypothermia.

Officer Aloha: Yes I did, I saw him directly next to my patrol car. Outside the old persons home.

POS Lawyer: So why didn't you escort him back to the home and see if they were missing him.

Officer Aloha: Because he was scary looking, kinda looked like a ghost, and I'm scared of ghosts.

lol good one... in fact his beat partner said something like "you just left an old man in the dark, who needed help."

      "go back there"

Quite frequently I am the only person on the detective floor in the evening. I have been hearing strange noises for some time. The overhead pips have now started leaking. Turns out what I heard were rats eating through the pipes.

Man that's scarier than if it had been a ghost.

It almost soundlike someone trying on a keyboard at times. I wondered if it was the ghost of a dead detective still filing his reports.

I've posted this somewhere before but here goes.

When I was on PD I was heading in at the end of a swing shift when something caught my eye at a cemetary. I roll in and see a man standing amongst the graves. I walk up, identify, yada yada and notice that there are about four or five empty donut boxes on the ground in the area he is standing in. I then notice that some of the gravestones has a donut sitting on top of them, one donut per stone. I ask the guy whats going on and he looks me dead in the eye and replies "people gotta eat".

After very little thought I decided that this guy was going to be a midnight shift problem. I reminded him to pick up the boxes promptly left. Very creepy.
The only thing we have to fear is change itself.

                heh...

I work for a very rural county in central Florida, and there are only four of us on the road at a time, so most of our calls are answered solo. One night, around one in the moring or so, I got a call that an elderly lady had a flying saucer in her pasture.

Once I arrived I listened to her story about how one of her cows had not come in for feeding that afternoon, and she was so worried about the cow that she decided to go look for it. When she got to the back of her property, she saw a "space machine".

To apease the woman, I rode around to the back of her property shining with my spotlight. Imagine my suprise when my light hit a roundish object with something that looked like a cockpit on top.

I called my Sgt and the other two deputies out, and we just kinda stared at it for a while. When I finally worked up the nerve to walk around the thing, I found a number on the opposite side.

Turns out my "UFO" was an enclosed glider that someone had to land there earlier in the afternoon.

                      Yes.

Very strange, very unexplained & very creepy.

A usually desk driving suckhole senior ranked officer once actually cared for his men on a cold, dark, stormy nightshift.

It left us shaken, disoriented and speechless.

Homer: When I first heard that Marge was joining the police academy, I thought it would be fun and zany, like that movie Spaceballs. But instead it was dark and disturbing... Like that movie -- Police Academy.

This doesn't have anything to do with my job but it did involve my great grandmother.
She told the story that she was home sitting in her chair when she seen her brother come through the door. Without saying a word he walked up stairs and then came back down a few minutes later and walked out. Again without saying a word. As he walked out the door she got a phone call. The phone call was her family, downstate, telling her that he had died.

Well...then he probably would't remember the officer was there.

Last year around Halloween I was assigned to regular night patrol. It was a Saturday night and the big night for " mischievious " kids to be out and basically terrorize the town with toilet paper and eggs.

We had been dealing with a lot of these nuisance calls all night. Late at night
I got a call about some "people" messing around in a cemetary. That was basically the only detail that I was given. The cemetary was located on the outskirts of the city and was pretty secluded from everything else. The Cemetary is spread over a rolling hillside and I could see really good with the moonlight so I pulled into the front drive and parked my cruiser.

I got out of my cruiser and began to walk the Cemetary. This was a move I immediately regretted. The Cemetary was older, grown over and run down. I had not noticed it till I had got out of my car but a kind of low fog surrounded some of the stones making it look like a scene out of a typical horror movie.

I continued on and then heard some voices towards the very back of the cemetary. I began to make my way around the side of the cemetary towards the back. I then saw in the very back corner of the cemetary small lights like candles and shadows moving around disappearing around the tombstones. I slowly made my way towards the light and got closer and closer. I then could make out people make out a row of candles. I decided to approach them.

I got closer and saw about 5-6 adults. They were all dressed in black clothes and looked like they were wearing hoods so I could not see faces. I got about 50 feet from them and decided to quit being stealth so I started to walk right up to them. All of a sudden my radio made a loud squawking sound. All of the heads turned toward me at once and I expected the people to say something or to start to run, but nothing happened.

All of the bodies had turned towards me. I could not see anyones face as it was all dark in the cloakes. I spoke up with what voice I could muster and told the people I was a police officer and they had to pack up and leave. No one moved, no one even acknowledged me. I just stood about 30 ft away from them now feeling very scared and odd.

One of them slowly lifted a hand to its cloak and pulled it off revealing a decomposing and horrible face. They each stood up slowly and turned towards me walking. They each were moaning and stumbling towards me. I turned around and started to run towards the front of the cemetary where my cruiser was.

As I ran I noticed the things were following me. As I got towards the top of the hill all of a sudden in front of me I started seeing these people in these black cloaks appearing from behind tombstones in front of me. They were all over. As I started to double back to the side just as one was going to grab me I fell about 6 feet down into what appeared to be a grave.

I laid dazed for a second looking up at the moonlight. All of a sudden i noticed several figures in cloakes looking down at me. I could only see the shadow of the cloaks. Dirt started to fly all over me and I began to scream.

Thats when it hit me. You know what I fell into.

A big pile of Bull s$## like this entire story is...
