  • medical condition- possible dq?

I am a high school student and I am going to be applying to colleges very soon. Although I am very young, I have ambitions of becoming a LEO. However, I am concerned that a mild medical condition that I have could possibly disqualify me from becoming a police officer. I have aortic stenosis, which means my aorta is a little more narrow than that of the average person. This condition has no effect on me whatsoever, it is just there. Although I am only in high school, I can already pass the PFT of the Baltimore Police Department (I live in MD) with ease, despite this condition. Do any of you current LEO's believe I would be disqualified because of my mild medical condition? Thank you in advance for your replies.

My advise would be to ask the departments your thinking about trying for. Some would have no problem with it and others might DQ you. You might have a better chance with a small department. Good luck.
