  • Traffic Light Camera Summons in Georgia

I caught the tail end of a story on the news tonight about communities in Georgia issuing summons for persons caught running red lights by traffic cameras were charging more than state violation fees. Is there a set fine for running a red light set by the state in Georgia or can communities set thier own fines. I ask because, yes, I ran a red light and got a picture of my car in the mail with a summons. I have already paid it and was just curious.
"Thats a pretty cool sidearm you got there....What is it?"
"I don't know what its called, I just know the sound it makes when it takes a mans life"

I can't speak for Georgia, but in California the judges in each court get together and set the fines for traffic offenses committed within their communities. Run a red light in one county and pay one fine, do it in another county and pay a completely different amount.
Going too far is half the pleasure of not getting anywhere

Ohio passed a law that says a traffic acmera can't be the source of a citation unless camera is manned by police officer
