Training in the martial arts and shooting.
Right now I'm stressed and frustrated because I hurt my right elbow so it limits me doing both right now.
Oh and the ocassional forums I visit and moderate.

There is another guy at the PD who plays them too.

I just start up another franshise on Madden. Or play endless hours of GTA

Well, there are no other officers in town. The nearest one is 90 miles away by plane....

However, you can still talk shop and turn it off. It takes some practice.

I work out at the gym everyday after work. Relives the stress of the job and also I agree with Bodie. This forum helps alot. When I've had some serious stress I let it out on the forum and most everybody is supportive. Yes even Bodie. Still owe you for the support last year Bodie, I haven't forgot

If somethings really tramatic I call another officer and talk to them about it.

Day to day, I just leave work at work; there's a certain place on my way home that I just decided I'm no longer a cop. I become a cop again when I pass the same place on the way to work the next day. When I'm at home, I'm not a cop. I don't think like a cop; I turn it off. That doesn't mean I turn off being safe; I'm still alert to my surroundings and I carry my gun and radio everywhere (policy).

    It won't hit you until you're off-duty.

Each person needs to cope with it differently. If there's a traumatic incident on my shift, a bunch of us will usually have choir practice after the shift ends, to talk about it. It's very comfortable, and really helps me, to be amongst other cops, who understand such things. After that, I go home to give my wife & children some extra hugs before I go to bed myself.

I for one, will go golfing if I am kinda stress out. Wait a second, that causes me more stress.

I might go ride bike or go work out. But I try to stay away from the budlight when I am kinda stress, they seem to go down way to easy if your stressed.

A regular death or suicide I'm use to and won't bother me to much. However the death of a child you never get use too. I usually go sit on the beach and watch the waves come in when I get the chance. It's my way of relieveing stress.
