      Haha!

Bodie, your kind and gentle demeanor never fails to brighten my day.
I know I should feed the trolls but it is just SO hard.

My department allows mustaches, goatee's and beards. But, the beard thing may be the fact that the chief has a beard

Our Narcs are the only ones allowed to have facial hair beyond a moustache. Even the regular dicks who are in plainclothes every day have the same grooming standards as patrol. Moustache to mil spec or clean shaven.

My old department allowed beards and mustaches, but no goatee's... go figure?
In law enforcement, the customer is ALWAYS wrong.

In God we trust. Everyone else is run through NCIC.

My department allows you to have a beard, but not grow one (it gets cold here). IE: if you want a beard, you have to grow in on vacation.

i took a class (kinesics and behaviors) showed a study was done somewhere sometime and that most people find that facial hair is associated with trying to hide something...said that even a lot of banks and other types of companies wont let guys have facial hair,,,,so they said.

I have always laughed at the idea of "mustaches are professional, but goatees aren't". I have been raised that mustaches tend to mean that people are stuck in the 70's or 80's. So if goatees are the norm now-a-days, why is it not professional. The only reason mustaches are professional is because everybody had them 30 years ago, oh well, guess I'll have to wait for goatees to go out of style, then they will be professional, same with sideburns.

Restrictive? You might be getting into the wrong field if you're worried about that.

We can't have any facial hair in uniform. Of course UCs can do whatever they want.

Beards are OK in UK forces but you've got to grow them in your own time i.e. whilst on holiday.

i would say it should be acceptable to have a nice mustache/goatee. You can look proffesional as long as it is is clean cut.

I must agree a beard and or goatee can really make an officer look proffessional. Take a look at this officer .
