When you are new it doesn't matter what shifts you "like" to work but what best fits the needs of your agency. Ask the question again after five years.

I don't quite understand your question. When you're new to the job, however, you often don't have the luxury of choosing when you want to work; you simply work the schedule that you're given. Oh yeah... don't complain about it. The guys (and gals) before you had to pull their time working crappy shifts, too.

it totally depends on your agency...my agency current has five shifts you can be assigned to....all depends if you are working 8,9,10,12 hour shifts.
