I think everyone here already knows the answer to that question.
Honestly you kinda do. You have no chance, just none. You're wasting your time even trying, and you should focus on something else. All of that religion nonsense you posted only makes it more clear. Jesus forgives, BIs don't.Comment

I recently just turned 20 (in October) and I have a few glitches in my past that may have ruined my chances of becoming a law enforcement officer. To get straight to the point, I have had around 8 encounters with escorts from October 2013 to October 2014. This activity basically occurred from the month of me turning 19 to days before I turned 20. I was a virgin and didn't want to turn 19 as one, so I took a dumb way out. I was a freshman in college and during that year I had moments where I was thinking with my little head instead of my big head and called an escort.
Other than this, I have done nothing illegal. I don't want this to ruin the opportunity of becoming a police officer as I know for a fact that I will never see another escort again. I always believed that these girls were just being escorts for their joy of, well, sex, and it is just nothing but fun and a way for them to earn money. Now I have realized the real reason on why it is illegal. Most of these girls are indeed doing this strictly for money and to have change for their kids, but after a couple of encounters (and few news reports) I have noticed how there is a large percentage of them doing this to feed their drug addiction and/or to set up a robbery. I now feel very guilty for even seeing these ladies because I feel as if I was helping them with obtaining drugs by giving them money for what they call "service".
I made a promise to myself and God to never do anything of this nature again, EVER. My parents recently passed away and I can't bare the image of them looking at me down from heaven witnessing what their son is doing. I know that I can't change or do anything about the past but I have high hopes for my future.
Another reason why I will never do anything of this nature (or illegal) again is because of my role in my family. I have a couple of nieces and nephews that I want to live a joyful life. Their parents (my sister and her husband) are not on the right path to success so I feel that it is my duty to be an outstanding role model to them, someone that they can look up too. A true leader leads by example which means I can't be a true leader doing unmorally things, which is why I decided to stop with that activity before it was too late.
To wrap this up and end this story about my life, I want to mention that I just became a police explorer and is majoring in criminal justice and have hopes of one day becoming a police officer.
I know that many police departments are strict on character and morals when picking a potential officer but will this completely harm my chance of being a police officer? Even though it has only been a couple of months since I have seen an escort, my mindset has changed to a more mature level than what it was when I was 19. I have had a couple of life changing events that has opened my eyes to reality and it placed back on the right path that I was once distracted from.
I am 20 now, I am probably not going to graduate until I am 23 due to college credit hour issues. I am not going to apply for the academy until I receive my degree.
So after reading all of this, do I still have a chance of becoming a police officer?
P.S. I have never been arrested and have a clean record.
You have a slim chance, however you keep minimizing your criminal behavior and making excuses. I can tell you that when I worked backgrounds I didn't care if you were a virgin and didn't want to be one when you were nineteen. I did care about your pattern of criminal activity that occured (multiple sexually encounters with prostitutes).
Most of us have been in LE long enough that we don't want to hear about how wrong you now realize banging prostitutes is or your promise to God. Your promise is between you and God. I can't tell you how many times I (and I would guess most in LE) have heard how a suspect/prisoner has turned his/her life to God. Want to guess how long that lasts.
You might want to consider a different major in case LE doesn't work out. There is a possibility that you might not get hired, you may get injured or terminated.Last edited by Country_Jim; 01-16-2015, 03:15 PM.Comment

Please explain your statement. How am I minimizing and avoiding responsibility? I have admitted to it, realised how wrongful it was, and made a promise to myself & God to never do such a thing again. If anything, I am owning up to it but I refuse to let 1 year of my past define who I am now and define who I will become in the future. Obama for example admitted to smoking marijuana when he was around my age, now he is the president of the united states. Obama obviously well qualified to be a president regardless of people's opinion. Not bring religion into this but if you are religious, then you know the story about Jesus and his disciples. If our past defines who we are eternally then why did Jesus pick sinners to be his disciples??? If Jesus knows that a past mistake does not define you, then why is it hard for men to understand?
You don't have to reply but it would be helpful if you or anybody else to reply.
There's a difference in being bluntly honest and discouraging. I am serious about this topic and really do not need negative/ degrading responses.
Instead I will comment on your President Obama example. Obama joined the Illinois State Senate in 1997, he joined the United States Senate in 2004, and he became President in 2008. He admitted to smoking marijuana when he was younger, presumably High School / College which for him would have been the early 1980's.
So let’s say you wait the same amount of time it took from him to move on from his mistake of smoking marijuana, until when he got into politics (1997) that would be roughly 15-17 years. He didn’t smoke marijuana, and the next year find the righteous path to presidency… he grew up, which it sounds like you still need to. Wait a few years as several other posters have already suggested.
Good luck.
(If any of my President Obama timelines are off, blame Wikipedia)
P.S. Personally, I think it's worse to have hired numerous prostitutes, than to have smoked marijuana.Last edited by Silentfaith; 01-16-2015, 03:17 PM.There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.

Please explain your statement.
You asked for opinions, and I gave mine.
Don't like it? Tough. I don't have to explain myself to you.
I made a promise to myself and God to never do anything of this nature again, EVER.Another reason why I will never do anything of this nature (or illegal) again is because of my role in my family"I am a Soldier. I fight where I'm told and I win where I fight." -- GEN George S. Patton, Jr.

OP, I reread your post and want to apologize. You have accepted full responsiblity and will make a great LE officer.

Your entire tome was a minimization thinking that saying you were sorry and "Promised God" you would never do it again. Life doesn't work that way. Sometimes you just have to live with your past and shoulder the consequences of your prior actions.I DON'T ALWAYS LIKE BEING A RETIRED POLICE OFFICER .......Oh who the hell am I kiddingI LOVE IT. Thought I would save this before it gets edited

Just like someone that goes to strip clubs and pay for lapdances, I highly doubt that an officer will let a girl give him a lapdance to get out of an arrest because he has been to many strip clubs.
As for getting tested and getting a girlfriend:
1. I always get tested and never caught an std.
2. I have a girlfriend and never had any issues getting one.
And none of the girls had a pimp
Obama would never pass a law enforcement Background Investigation NOR would he probably be able to pass a military Top Secret investigation

You'd be a permanent DQ for my agency. I work in a town where there are a lot more women than guys, so I've heard the "I will do anything speech to get out of blah blah blah" speech at least a 100 times. My agency wouldn't be able to trust you in that circumstance.Comment

Late breaking news! Guy comes onto Ask a Cop, confesses to past crimes, and wants to know how many LE agencies will be banging (lol) on his door to hire him. Veteran cops give him the truth he didn't want to hear, and he soundly rejects their comments.Comment

Lots of luck with that attitude. I wish we knew everything and didn't have to ask for advice from others every so often.
As cops, we constantly run into new and different things that are beyond our expertise and training, so we frequently turn to others for advice and counsel on how to handle matters.
As a cop, your, "I know everything. I can learn nothing from anyone else," attitude will end up causing harm to yourself, someone else or your department and get you fired so fast it will make your head spin.Going too far is half the pleasure of not getting anywhereComment

Where is this town?Comment

Haha, do you guys buy into BS stories from gangbangers and other nefarious types as much as you have to this BS? How can you not see this guy is trolling?
Nobody who is a huge loser and has "dabbled" in prostitutes repeatedly would admit it. Then say "I have no trouble getting a girlfriend." Haha, then why did you pay for BJs for a year? Get out.
