  • A few class c misdemeanors and general under honorable conditions.

I was discharged from the army under honorable conditions for drug abuse, I have a pi, theft under 50$ and paraphernalia, all minor offenses. would that disqualify me from being an officer? Not looking for judgment, just a honest answer. I am a changed man.

    *How bout them Cowboys!*

Your General discharge will cause you trouble being hired as a peace officer

The public intox, theft and paraphernalia will just further hamper your qeust.

In any event, you will be what would be considered a below average candidate.
Since some people need to be told by notes in crayon .......Don't PM me with without prior permission. If you can't discuss the situation in the open forum ----it must not be that important

My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

First: YOU don't get to dictate the replies you receive. We do that, and WE dictate the manner in which we reply to them. That's nothing new, we've always done that. Now, to your question. The vast, and I emphasize vast, majority of departments will consider nothing less that an Honorable Discharge.

My Agency would NOT consider you, given your admitted past record. Even were we to overlook the Public Intoxication, drug use, possession of parahernalia, and theft would DQ you.

There you go. Perfect answer to your question.

"Changed man" or not, in this line of work your past will ALWAYS be a factor.

Edit: since you refer to Cowboys and even have TX in your name, refer to the Texas Commission On Law Enforcement (TCOLE) rules specifically Commission Rule 217.1. You can read it all but I'd point you to the "Military Requirements" since you did serve.

What!! Geez Guys, got to tell you I'm amazed. We told this poster the truth and damned if he wasn't man enough to graciously accept it. What a refreshing change from the butt hurt, it's all about me, cry babies who come here, are told the truth, and proceed to **** , moan, sling snot, and sing the blues.

This guy is indeed a refreshing change, and I sincerely wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

                Don't bother with that, either.

With the draw down you probably can't get back in with the general discharge and your record.... and the Army doesn't need fair weather Soldiers anyway.

Just young and dumb..it is what it is. I won't stop fighting until the army let's me back in. Seen soldiers come back from much worse...

The country only needs defending when you like the Commander in Chief? I served half my career under Clinton. Not fun, but the job still needed doing.

If you aren't willing to accept the duly elected President as your CinC and do the job that needs doing... the Army doesn't need you.

That's the very definition of a fair-weather Soldier.

Seen soldiers come back from much worse...
I've had more time with US Army on my chest than you've had at life... and I haven't.

Ok you make a point with the fair weather statement but in my defense this is the only president I refuse to serve. He's unamerican in every sense of the word. He's socialist scum and I do not want to work for him. True patriot would stand with the people rather than be apart of this dictators plan...plus it'll take a good year of convincing. Meanwhile, I'm still young and in the best shape of my life and I'll only be stronger by the time they let me back in. Sometimes it who ya know bud ;-) anyways, I got my answer yall have good one...go cowboys.

That is the attitude we DO NOT need either in Law Enforcement or the Military

We serve under those appointed above us....................until we rise to positions of command.

I am no fan of the current POTUS but the bottom line is HE IS the elected President AND he was RE-elected. He IS the president.......

Tank is correct in that the downsized military is going to be MUCH harding to get into ----especially with a cloudy past

I think that attitude is deteriorating

I serve my country, regardless of the guy calling the shots. The President will change many times, but the nation does not.

The "people" you would stand with elected him.

A Soldier doesn't get to play politics or have political opinions outside the voting booth, at least not in the US.

You don't get to decide what wars you fight, which orders you obey or which leaders you serve under... from your team leader to the CinC.

Your lack of discipline makes you useless, your attitude makes you worse than useless.

Repeat after me: "Do you want fries with that"?
