  • How do y'all keep a straight face...

and not bust up laughing sometimes? I'm just interning right now at a PD, but dang, some of the stuff people say/do...never a dull moment.

That's just one of the percs of the job. You get to meet new and interesting people and in my position doing traffic, I get their autographs too. Whenever I see someone doing something stupid it reminds me of my job security.
God made perfect cops.......The rest he put in cars.

Confession: I don't always keep a straight face. Sometimes it's just impossible.

I can do it because I know after my shift I will go to church and confess then I can laugh.
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

I laugh all the time at work. Sometimes with people but mostly at people.

Mentally, I just put myself back in my Modern Literature class that I took while in college. Hard to laugh at a 90 year talking about Hedda Gabler in a monotonous tone. It is hard though sometimes lol. I work in Brooklyn, NY. There's the full gamut of crap out here. Like you said, never a dull moment.

Bite my tongue and think of my Sergeant talking to me abut a complaint being made for unprofessional conduct keeps me out of trouble. Usually where I have the hardest time is in traffic court listening the the things people claim or when they start arguing with the judge. Gets me every time.

If you can't have fun at a homicide scene, where can you have fun?

I don't agree with your opinion, but I respect its straightforwardness in terms of wrongness.

It's not easy, and sometimes the stuff that's said it can't be helped. The hardest part is keeping from asking someone if they're retarded.

If it's the right circumstance's during a call I'll laugh, sometimes it's therapeutic.
Sometimes, doing the right thing means p***ing off the bosses.

If you have to ask, the answer is almost always "yes".
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it
