My suggestion would be to read the forum..................since you are talking about mostly Federal 1811 positions I would concentrate on the following areas of the forum

Six months from now when you have read all those interesting post--------------then you can come back and ask specific questions. (Ok ---that was a joke of sorts----but really read through some of those posts and get a feel as to what you are talking about)

    http://forums.officer.com/forums/for...ent-Job-Center
    http://forums.officer.com/forums/for...C.-amp-Federal
Since some people need to be told by notes in crayon .......Don't PM me with without prior permission. If you can't discuss the situation in the open forum ----it must not be that important

My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

You might also consider the public library.....there are usually alot of career guides in the reference section and other areas.
      Good luck!

I might get shot at for this, but sometimes it's better not to decide right out of high school what you want to spend the rest of your life doing. For some folks, if College or Jr. College is a possibility, it's nice to go and learn a bit about the world before you decide on a career. I know a lot of folks (myself included) who didn't get into law enforcement until our mid 20's and have been better off because of it. That's not to say that always knowing you wanted to go into LE and then doing it right after high school is wrong per se. I just caution anyone about limiting themselves so early on in life when there's so much to be experienced and explored. I know a lot of Officers who did start shortly after highschool (or after military) and are perfectly happy. Just something to think about. Additionally, I think you may find it difficult to get a Federal gig at 18 yrs old outside of the Military. But hey, what do I know.
