Why wouldn't you think to report it, as it was happening?

Seriously, they may have been involved in some crime nearby and hot information like that could have made the difference in breaking the case or not.

At least once a week we get a call of someone reporting suspicious behavior that occurred days earlier. I just don't get why something that has suddenly gained importance wasn't important when the first observed it.
    Because I wasn't home.

    My bad, I think you're right. Either way it's a crime : )

OP - call it in, as these guys may fit the description of some residential burg suspects the PD is looking for and doesn't have a vehicle description on.

Sure let 'em know. When they crashed I assume they caused some damage somewhere... if they left the scene of an accident they committed a felony.

    Should I Report This?

OK, so my 16-year-old son was getting home today. My wife was inside the house and heard him lock the Jeep (beep-beep), and heard his key in the door. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a man cross our yard, heading for the front door. So she ran to the door and pulled it open. The man diverted and went around our garage and out of sight.

Turns out he was with another man, both of whom were scruffy looking, and smoking on the corner near our house. My other son saw them driving in a white truck around the neighborhood. A few minutes later, that truck, with a driver and the two men, hauled BUTT down our street and tried to turn out of the neighborhood. THey were going so fast they missed the turn, and crashed across the median into the oncoming lane. They promptly backed up and left the neighborhood the right way. That's the last we've seen of them.

They were not professionally dressed, and did not have anything in their hands, so sales people or meter readers seem unlikely. But my son is 16, 6'1", and not someone likely to be kidnapped, IMHO. He's not exactly a victim-sized kid, and the man approaching him was smaller than he is by a mile.

My gut says we should notify the local PD and tell them about it, just in case it's happened elsewhere...but I'm a paranoid intel guy. I see spooks everywhere.

    Thoughts?
