  • Couple questions

So I got pulled over the other night on my way home from work, had no clue why. The officer was really nice about it and I didn't get a ticket, just a verbal warning. But I was pulled over because my light above my back plate was not working and because my windows are tinted. I already got my light fixed so I'm not worried about that. But he said to take the tint off and I don't exactly know how to do that. I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for.

So can anybody tell me the best way to get tint off, without ruining my windows?

My second question, I was thinking about it on my way home after he pulled me over. I moved here to Illinois in March and I was wondering if officers in Illinois have access to my record from Montana? I was wondering about it because I have a different lisence number so I wasn't sure if it would pull up anything from a different state, so I was just wondering. I don't have anything on my record anyways, but I was just curious.

    Thank you!

Yes, we can access other states. No clue on the tint.

I don't agree with your opinion, but I respect its straightforwardness in terms of wrongness.

Thanks Smurfette! No problem on the tint, I plan on asking everyone i know too. I think I might even look online for car window shops and call them and ask them too.

Here ya go lad, step by step instructions so you don't mess up the glass........

It usually just peels off. What you might consider is going to a tint shop to have them do it and replace it with legal tint. Save you the annoying task(I have done it myself) of removing window tint.

Try AutoZone, Checker or the dealership for taking the tint off.

You were probably either weving or some other indicator that you were drunk or high.

This is your best bet, my tint shop told me this exactly.

Or just take it to someone and let them do it......This way is even better.

I don't appreciate your comment......... It is very rude. I don't get high, I don't drink, and I was on my way home from work, so why would I have been either? I was not weaving either.

And don't you think that if what you think is why I got pulled over, that the officer would have said he was pulling me over because of weaving? You obviously did not read my entire post, or you would know why I got pulled over.

I was thinking that too. I read everything on that site, and to be honest it was kind of confusing to me, so I think I will go ahead and find a place to do it for me.

Thank you everyone for all your help!

Dont pay alot for it, I removed my own film off my patrol car front window, 30 mins of my time and adhesive remover and a razor blade did the trick.

Just peel the initial film layer and then add adhesive remover to the glue and start scraping.
