"Best Division"

Just for fun... in your opinion what is the best division or unit you've worked? K-9, SWAT, back round investigation, homicide, hostage negotiator, street crimes/proactive, traffic, narcotics, etc. Or maybe you love patrol or being a Sargeant..

What I've worked? DUI... but I've only worked DUI and patrol. As far as what do I think the best would be? Street crimes... but that's just based on what I like doing.

Patrol.....you get a littel bit of everything from idiot kids, drugs, assisting other units, (detective, K9s, SWAT, etc), DUIs, naked people, violent crimes, etc

best division? 2 divided by 2.


Problem Oriented Policing: Own hours, cars and bikes, shorts, low profile uniform, get to get into EVERYTHING! Take home car. Work on crime issues with the community and get results!

SWAT of course, just because it's soooo cool!

Swat is a lot of fun because of the training and equipment. MCU (major crimes unit) was always busy, but my heart belongs to Patrol.

Air Support! But since that's not a full-time gig for us, I will say patrol. Specifically A-team patrol - Wednesday through Saturday, aka The Varsity. We work the busiest days, get the most action calls and A-team has always had higher morale and been tighter with each other than B-team.

I'm patrol so I'm pretty content. I do see myself applying for the traffic unit here eventually though.

You know, I wouldnt mind being in the traffic unit if it wasnt for all the accidents! I HATE working accidents! The whole riding on the Harley thing suits me just fine! Cold weather/hot weather....gimme a bike and I will love it

SWAT Rocks! We get all the cool toys and training. We get to tear up houses, apts, hotels/motels,cars, businesses looking for dopers, murderers and other high risk suspects!

Go forget the C.D.I. factor!

See, I have no interest, nor desire to get into motors. Cool gig but no desire. I'll take a CV with A/C any day of the week. Besides, all our traffic units roll unmarked or slip tops.

We also dont work crashes here unless FHP has a response time of 30 minutes or more. We can and do work crashes but I would say that its pretty rare and if we do, its because the Troopers were tied up.

Anything but traffic...I get bored really fast sitting there running radar or watching a left hand no turn sign. I've only been on 2 years so I haven't been able to get into any special divisions yet. I'd rather jump out on the dope dealers and the gang bangers. Getting PCS (poss of controlled substance) arrests is looked at very highly at our dept.

Definately Street Crimes. All the perks of patrol with none of the negatives (no call taking), PLUS the ability to go plainclothes whenever I choose.
