  • Question about Runaways

Are there facilities that provide safe places for runaways that help them to work through why they ran away, as well as assisting them if the home environment is safe in getting back home, or otherwise if the environment is not safe assist them in contacting the proper authorities. Or is the only place that can do that social services?

    Will have more questions.

Your profile identifies you as being thirty three YOA. Based on that, I assume your question is in reference to a Juvenile runaway. The short answer to your question is" yes". Past that, I'll recommend you do some research. www.Google.com. There should be wealth of information there for you.

        Yes there are places.
This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made.

Thank you for the information, I'm researching the validity of a story idea I've had for quite some time but always thought that social services was the only option. Next thing is to figure out how they work.

It's called boot camp. The parent pays a little cash and the tac officers take it from there. I used to volunteer at one. It was some of the most fun I ever had, taking these little punks and breaking them down.
God made perfect cops.......The rest he put in cars.

I believe this is what the OP was talking about,Most major cities have one.
Covenant House New Orleans provides shelter & services for youth under 22. Caring for over 900 youth annually, our doors are always open.
Sleeping Giant. They're not fat and happy anymore. They are hungry and increasingly angry. That is not a good recipe for a "Puppies and Rainbows America".

There should be a victim/witness services in the state too. They might have more resources or be aware of them.
