  • I ran a red light today in front of cops

I was surprised I wasn't busted, but given the circumstances, I think the officers understood my intention and forgave my dumb mistake.

So I was on my way home, and up ahead, I noticed the traffic light flashing yellow and there were several officers in their cruisers at the intersection.

There was a pedestrian waiting to cross the street, so I stopped at the light to let him by. I expected one of the officers to gesture with directions, but no one did.

At this point, the light is still flashing, so after a few seconds of waiting to making sure the intersection is safe, I drove through the light. But the second I began moving, I noticed that the flashing light had changed to red, and across the street the light had become green.

There was a car approaching across from me, and if I had stopped, I would be directly in his path. So I continued moving, expecting wailing sirens to follow. But none of the officers came after me - I guess I'm lucky!

Don't do that again. And stop talking on your cell phone.

Sounds like you got caught in the "transition" from flasher to full function. Officers exercised simple common sense. Problems?

It was implicit, but basically it's I know I did something illegal, so why wasn't I busted?

You are right - I shouldn't do that again, but I wasn't on my cell phone.

I was just so intent on observing on the intersection that I neglected to look at the lights again before going through!

Apologies to all the officers who are appalled at my bad driving. It won't happen again

Um, yeah, as long as you learn from what happened and do not do it again, then that is just as effective as you being stopped.

Not problems. Just wanted to verify. Thanks!

Go to the Police Department in that jurisdiction and tell them what you did. Then tell them that you'll standby while they decide what to do with you.

Seriously, honey. Do you think we 1) catch everyone that does something wrong and 2) do you think we care about the piddly mess?

I don't agree with your opinion, but I respect its straightforwardness in terms of wrongness.

Ok I'll play your silly game and take "why is this a thread' for $100.00 Stud

oh I know it is to give us a break for the "will this hurt my chances" threads....and that is my final answer!!
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

It sounds like he is thanking police in general for those officers cutting him some slack. He apparently didn't know before that happened that we are humans too, now he knows. We can probably add one more to the "I support the cops" side.
