Our watch commander is responsible for the shift. For our dept it is usually the LT.This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made. -
He's the guy with the TV in his office..In our Dept. usually promoted 2 ranks out of his (or her) league...Comment

At my agency, the watch commander is the shift supervisor, almost always a sergeant. The W/C stays in the field for the majority of the shift and is there for first-line supervision. Lieutenants supervise an entire patrol team, which is four shifts. Lieutenants generally spend almost all of their shift (day shift) in the office.Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. - Ronald Reagan
I don't think It'll happen in the US because we don't trust our government. We are a country of skeptics, raised by skeptics, founded by skeptics. - AmaroqComment
