All other factors aside do you folks believe that being 22yo when applying for a LEO position is a hindrance?

I have rode along with a few local agencies and most "young" cops get hired at 25+. Rarely does someone in their early twenties get hired.

I have rode along with a few local agencies and most "young" cops get hired at 25+. Rarely does someone in their early twenties get hired.

It may be a bit more difficult with a smaller department as they don't have a large pool of officers and resources to train you and keep an eye on you. With a large department (couple hundred officers) it would be less of an issue. Just make sure you have things on your resume that make you look mature.
