  • What is your take on this video

I personally think that the officers was justified in doing what they did. I think they may have needed to use more force sooner than they did honestly.

I was going to say atleast they couldn't claim a race issue. Then the other two officers showed up. They will draw this out like they do everything else.

Love how someone tries to ease up and take the guy's stuff. Straight from the hood.
Where'd you learn that, Cheech? Drug school?

Can't say who's in the wrong here... since we don't see what led up to the arrest. But I kept asking myself "Why isn't he taking him to the ground?" He just stood there... holding the dude's pants... It wasn't until another car showed up that they took him down. That could have been over with much sooner, IMO.

But then again... "he ain't did nuttin'!"

The perp was resisting arrest, so use of force was allowed.

However, I can't understand their tactics. Why is one cop holding his pants and the other is standing behind the first cop yelling? They should have had this guy in cuffs in seconds. It looked more like a street argument than an arrest.

I tell the person to get on the ground one time, the second time I'm not telling him with my voice. He was on his feet for way too long.

It looks better when you slam someone down hard, cuff them, stuff them. Then, to let something draw out like that for the video camera.

I refuse to monday morning quarterback these officers for doing the wrong thing. We were not there, so we cannot pass negative judgement on them and must show support. This was a guy with a gun. He refused and continued yelling "get your hands off me". Thats not a response from any upstandng citizen. I just love the woman in the video who says it looked like they were kids and why were they dancing or spinning around with him. Had the officer used his adrenaline and body slammed him forcing him to the ground, then she would have been complaining that he was too rough. They deserve a medal for not splitting his stupid head wide open. The male in the video too that did the filming, funny how he was offended at what he saw and the fact that the officer used profanity. I bet he MF's everyone that walks past him, but he was offended. Anyone that works in an urban area knows very well that when dealing with scum (not saying all people in urban areas are scum) but the ones you deal with time and time again do not understand anything better than profanity. How many times I've dealt with people that every other word was profanity and when I told them to shut they're big frickin mouth, and I said "frickin" mouth, all of a sudeen they were offended "why do you have to talk to me like that?" When they didn't understand anything else. So, good luck to those involved in the video, I support you 100%.

Perhaps the officers were using poor retention techniques, but with the suspect writhing about and trying to pull away, I did not see an excess amount of force being used. The POS is lucky he did not get capped for the gun. The suspect should have immediately been taken to the ground when he began to show any resistance.

I love the interview of "Timothy X" what an idiot, I am not going to say my last name but I'll show my face. Not excessive, that city council woman needs to be slapped for being an idiot.

I wont comment on how idiotic Mr. X is and the old bag that has no clue what bad things happen in the real world. But I will state the tactical response by the officers was horrible. I cringe when I critique other officers but you have to be objective and see it for what it is. Wheter or not mace was deployed is irrelevant. When handling a combative active resistor you TAKE CONTROL of the situation. If your only offense is holding on to the belt of the subject to keep him from fleeing I would say you got problems. All that thug had to do was throw a knee, an elbow or a upper cut and that officer was done. Having been in several street fights, boxing matches etc. I know how quick it can go sideways.

ALWAYS BE FIRST !! For crying out loud the guy had a gun and was resisting. Take him down, take the fight to the ground and win !!

Hahaha....slapping her wouldn't be excessive enough!

Yeah, probably should've taken him down quicker but my bet is they were probably trying NOT to be excessive and it backfired on them. The report shouldn't have even made the news IMO but that's the way of the world. God am I glad I started in 1980!!!!! Back then, the scene we just saw was called a "field interview"
