    Yeah if the Sgt.'s know your name you've screwed up. Just do your time listen and don't be heard(unless you've got a cool instructor, then you can ask questions. Ours were usually trooops that have been on the road a while and didn't care what the Sgt.'s said)

    Ditto to what K9tosca said. As someone who is starting at the very bottom you are in the academy to learn and not show off. It's way too early in your career to start thinking about scoring extra brownie points.

    The best thing you can do is make yourself as invisible as possible. Academy staff will be focusing on how well you learn the curriculum. Anything else could brand you as a show off or a manipulative little s**t..

    I am not sure about NYPD but in Indiana you don't volunteer for anything. You never know what you'll get. Sometimes it helps to keep DI's off your back and sometimes it makes an example out of you. You should probably just feel the situation before deciding. We give blood here too for an extra night of liberty.
