  • Texas Basic Sniper Course

My agency is looking to send me to a Basic Sniper Course this year. Only real stipulation is that I must receive TCOLE training hours for attending. I have not had a lot of luck locating a school as of yet. If anyone knows of any upcoming schools, please let me know. You can PM me and I will send you my department email.

Contact TTPOA (https://ttpoa.org/), they sponsor a lot of sniper schools through other departments, or will at least point you in the right direction for upcoming schools.

added: This link is only an example, this one was cancelled, but you get the idea.

Basic Police Sniper 5 Days REGISTER

This intense course is designed to meet the training needs of the special operations sniper. Students must also pass a written test to become certified as a Law Enforcement Sniper. This course will cover psychological and physical requirements of the sniper. Use of force, marksmanship, nomenclature, firing positions, commands, rifle maintenance, ballistics, range estimation, cover & concealment, effects of weather & time of day, and making the shot.
What to Bring: Bolt action or semi-automatic rifle with magnified sights, handgun with holster, 450 rounds of rifle ammunition, 100 rounds of pistol ammunition, BDU's or other similar tactical uniform, personal tactical equipment, load-bearing vest or web-gear, inclement weather gear, ear & eye protection.

I went here for patrol rifle school, it's in Weatherford. Good staff, my class only had 3 guys in it so it was good training but still laid back. Looks like dates are soon: Basic Sniper - June 13-17, 2016

I have looked at both of those so far. I already have training scheduled for the Texas Tactical one. Did find a course on TTPOA and have a request in with my department. Will see what they say. Thanks guys.
