  • Sit up req...

I've been flipping through the requirements for all police departments in the region I'm near and all of them require sit up tests.

To my knowledge sit ups are probably the least safe manner in which a person should train their abdominal region. Any reason why they have not chose to introduce a safer benchmark for overall trunk strength? And are there exceptions made?

because if you get pushed down or are fighting someone with your back to the ground, you're not going to do hanging leg raises or an abdominal crunch. you're going to do a situp. i know what you're saying, but there's a reason you do situps instead of other things.
