  • Diver/Dive Team Medic

    The Diver/Dive Team Medic: is an individual who specializes in providing initial/pre-hospital care to divers/dive team members who become ill or injured in the dive setting. The Diver/Dive Team Medic must be able to identify the victim of an illness or injury, provide initial care to the patient until relieved by medical professionals with more advanced training.

    The role of a Diver/Dive Team Medic includes reaching the victim and in some cases, this includes rescuing the victim. The Diver/Dive Team Medic is charged with identifying the injuries of the victim, without causing further injury, provide immediate care to the victim, and inform emergency personnel of treatments preformed and suspected injuries of the victim. From time-to-time, the Diver/Dive Team Medic may need to advise emergency personnel unfamiliar with diving accidents as to the appropriate treatment required.

    Please note that, this training is for Dive Team Operations and Tactical Dive Teams Only.

    Some Course Objectives and Training Hourse:

    • 40.0 hours
    • Open-Wound Injuries
    • Stinging Injuries
    • Physics of Diving Accidents
    • Injected Envenomizations
    • Pressure-Related Problems
    • Rescue Considerations
    • Dive Team Medic Treatment Skills
    • Medical Emergencies
    • Basic Life Support including AED
    • Major Diving Illness Recognition and Field Treatments

    Prerequisites:
    • 18 years of age or older
    • Advanced Open Water Certification or higher
    • CPR/PR or higher (can be conducted during course, additional fee)

    Course Cost: $250.00

    Course Materials: $77.00

    Professional First Responder Course: $200.00 (includes course materials)

    We also offer an abbreviated version (20.0 hourse course) for Public Safety Personnel (Police, Fire, EMS, etc.) who do not dive but may be ask to
    Repsond/Assist Divers/Dive Teams at the scene.
