This is a quite normal practice in our area. We do the searches while the kids are still in school. We typically let the school know a week ahead and then just show up when we want and lock down the school to do the search. We bring enough dogs to do the search quickly; we even search all vehicles in the parking lot. It takes a lot of planning because we have to find dogs from about a 75 mile radius to properly do the search.
