My unit is getting issued these types of vests, there level IIIA which is a step up from our level II's, and the fact that there all mesh sounds enticing!

anyone have any thoughts on it? gripes?

    How do you like it?

Any +s or -s you have seen from street use yet?

Well after a few weeks of wearing them, a few gripes and praises... first off, so far I sweat a whole lot less wearing these than I do my old one (the cougar classic). I'm a smaller framed person and it fits a whole lot better than my old one (the old one was short, this one is perfect for a size 32 guy). The only complaint are the straps that connect it are way way way too short. the vest rides up and ends up choking me. This can be solved by using straps from another vest. also there is not alot of velcro on the sides and makes someone with a small frame like me have to really look for that valuable space to make it nice and tight. I'll have to check in, during the summer and truly tell you how it feels.

I am going to be getting sized and buying a set in the next few weeks so am trying to do as much research as possible.

now here's to hoping you never find out how well it works! Looks like a nice piece of gear, haven't done too much body armor research as the most we ever get are stab vests in certain areas of the prison, but certainly seems like it would do the job, and with level 3 protection, you'll be better off against suspects armed with rifles for sure.

I found my new Level IIIA (I used a paca level IIIa vest before is a bit more ungiving. It is not as comfortable and is hotter. ....but the option is a bit hotter.

I like the idea of better overall body coverage and updated protection. I took my old IIIA vest and put it in a raid vest. Good article on the new vest standard at police.com.
