Policeman balls, is what I meant. You know...formal occassion...everybody dresses up and you listen to the higher ups go on and on and on for about an hour...
We've got on coming up soon....

I don't agree with your opinion, but I respect its straightforwardness in terms of wrongness.
We used to have an informal Xmas get together run under the auspicious of our police officers' assn. We stopped having those for a while when we started having formal awards banquets. The formal thing got so expensive and well formal, that attendance dropped way off. It sort of become a way for the brass to pat themselves on the back and look good. The Xmas parties started up again and I believe all for the better.

Our deputies' association puts on an annual Christmas party. It's semiformal, I guess, since everyone wears suits and ties. Not too much speechifying, just the sheriff giving out service awards.
We had a few years where there wasn't a party, but as of last year, it is on again.

I don't think It'll happen in the US because we don't trust our government. We are a country of skeptics, raised by skeptics, founded by skeptics. - Amaroq
Nope, don't have to...but I enjoy the after party and a little birdie told me that I'd be getting a couple of awards...sooooooooo....I'm going. Besides, I get to dress up and be a total girl for the evening.
