  • Getting fed up with losing insignia fasteners

Whatever you call them -- frogs, dammits, butterfly clasps, I'm getting sick and tired of losing the fasteners from the backs of my collar brass, name tag, honor pins, etc.

I've tried 3 different brands of metal versions, I've tried 2 types of the black rubber ones. They all still fall off at some inopportune moment. Today I was escorting a dignitary and afterwards discovered I'd lost a fastener and my collar insignia was askew.

    What is the secret solution?

    Pencil erasers.
Now go home and get your shine box!

There's no secret solution (besides a bag of replacements in a desk drawer, or getting admin to get rid of the outdated shiny crap all together)...there's a reason they call them "dammits." The new thing seems to be earring backers.

Cross over to the dark side. Put on a suit and you will never lose them again.

I'll second pin locks. Especially for any pin that typically is attached for the long term. I use them on all my jackets. Set it and forget it...cause it's not coming off...not without a wrench.

I just use ordinary clasps with a drop of super glue. When you want to remove them a lighter cooks the glue in a couple of seconds.

I loose them just like a metal fastener.
Right now I have a hard clear plastic "Quik-Pin" brand Dammits that will probably work until they wear a big enough hole in the plastic.
