Seems to be a common problem. NY and Massachusetts SPs have similar scandals currently. It’s a real black eye to those who are doing it right every day.

Oh I totally agree. This is as greedy as it gets, unless you are in contract talks then you see “gold rush” style rumors start and people who never come to union meetings suddenly show up with ridiculously unrealistic pay raise requests.

Many years ago we fired an OLD TIME officer for fudging his time card....................happens all the time.

He admitted he had been padding 15 minutes a day for close to a decade

I was the initial Union Steward assigned to THAT incident
Since some people need to be told by notes in crayon .......Don't PM me with without prior permission. If you can't discuss the situation in the open forum ----it must not be that important

I hate to be the person who has to go through all the documents on that for public release. Now with SB1421 in effect, we will know nearly everything on this. And names.

It is an awful thing to happen, but it seems to show there is a problem with that one particular command out of the 103 CHP has. Seems a bunch of heads may roll on this one.

And of course, another Hitler Rants video spawns from the matter.

I don't know the California penal code, but these types of offenses here in Colorado would support charges including theft, embezzlement of public property, and probably forgery (for the falsified payroll records created and presented), all of which are felonies punishable by prison sentences. I suspect that California has comparable statutes.

It takes a special kind of arrogance to put on a uniform and badge, then use that position of trust to steal from the public. Every one of those officers were earning over $100,000 per year and had some of the best benefit plans in existence. Whether they are prosecuted, fined, imprisoned or not they will be losing their jobs, probably losing their homes, losing their benefits, losing their pension plans, and never again qualify for any position of public trust. Family relationships will be destroyed. Some will have to relocate so they are not exposed to public scorn or ridicule in their communities.

I hope a little extra pocket cash was worth it.
