Interested to see what everybody's different schedules are, especially those that run 8 hour shifts. I'd love to run 10's or 12's but don't think the department will ever go for it. A different 8 hour schedule may fly. Our current 8 hour schedule sucks, IMO. We do a combination of 4 on 2 off and 5 on 1 off, I don't even know how they make it work, numbers wise......been that way for 20+ years apparently. We have 3 shifts of three different crews.

    Week 1, off Weds Thurs
    Week 2, off Tues Weds
    Week 3 off Mon Tues
    Week 4, off Sun Mon
    Week 5, off Sat Sun
    Week 6, off Sat
    Week 7, off Fri

    Then it starts over.

Sun-Wed, 0600-1600 + the occasional fill-in once or twice per month

Until this month it was Sun-Wed, 1600-0200.

              Me personally?

I go into the office when I feel like it. I work until I feel like going home and then I go home. The only restrictions on me is that I work a minimum of 40 hours in a 7 day period. I can work as many hours over 40 as I feel I need to, no questions asked.

              Our patrol division works 4 on/ 4 off, 12 hour shifts, 0600-1800, 1500-0300, and 1800-0600.

Saturday through Wednesday 2pm to 12am normally but, it changes often with a case, training or other things that seem to constantly come up out of nowhere. I don't like my hours.

Same here, except we are 7-7. And we switch day/night constantly.... days on mon/tues, fri-sun nights, then back to days on wed/thurs.

No pattern here, rosters are written in fortnightly blocks and we only know the current roster plus the next one. Shifts are ten hours for most traffic units but eights for patrol. There must be a ten hour break between shifts. We don't have organised watches as such. 12hour shifts are prohibited on health and safety grounds.

                      Mine can go as follows:

                      Sun: 1500
                      Mon: 1500
                      Tue: 1500
                      Wed: Off
                      Thu: Off
                      Fri: Off
                      Sat: 0700
                      Sun: 0700
                      Mon: 1500
                      Tue: Off
                      Wed: Off
                      Thu: 0700
                      Fri: 1600
                      Sat: Off

It is particularly nice starting at 4pm with a day off the next day and working two hours into your day off(!)

When I was on the job my schedule was 0800-1600 Tuesday-Saturday. Had that schedule for at least 15 years.

Now my schedule is go to bed anytime I want, get up any time I want, do anything I want.
Train for tomorrow, for you never know what it will bring to the fight.
In the school of Policing, there is no graduation day.
