  • I'll offer up a few...

Had a coworker fall asleep in his patrol car while posted on a perimeter and let the perp run right past him.

Had another coworker that sold his personal vehicle and failed to pay off lien with the money...then told the IA Sgt to F*** off after the buyer filed a complaint (against law here to sell car without disclosing and satisfying liens.)

Known a few over the years that got caught "double dipping." (both physically and financially)

    And the winner:

One night, a coworker pulled over a young woman for speeding and during the stop she stated she believed that she was having a miscarriage and was on the way to the hospital. While he was writing the citation, her car ran out of gas. When she advised the officer of what happened and asked for help, he told her that it did not say "taxi" or "AAA" on the side of his car, and then drove off, leaving her there.

Honorable mention: this happened after he got fired for having sex with a stripper on duty...

He was found passed out in his car after ODing on pills, while stalking his estranged girlfriend, and responding officers found a short barrel shotgun in his trunk that had my agency's name stamped in it. He somehow obtained the barrel while employed (best theory is he forged authorization letter).
He did 18 months in federal pen after ****ing off the prosecutor and refusing a plea deal that would have been probation only.

This was at another department, but I did know the guy. He was an undercover narcotics agent. He was caught in a cock fighting ring letting the 'chicken fighters' I guess you call them know all the leads that the police had on them.

And last but not least, and probabily the BEST yet. The guys who place I took when I came to my shift. He was fired for shooting the sheriffs dog. The sheriff was away on vacation and we conduct a property check on his home every so often. I dont know specific details but he went to check the back yard where the dog was. It was a german shepard that the sheriff had for years. It was not an isolated incident however, there were other questionable animal shootings dureing his time at my department.
      I remember that! Classic!

      • Two best ones I can think of are a HWP Sgt who was looking to retire medical due to stress.... in a persuit one day and his vehicles motor seized. Pulled to the side of the road. Got out, walked to the front and put 6 holes in the hood.... Walked back to his seat, sat down, put seat belt on and was sitting like that when we found him...We all believed her saw an opportunity and took it...

Other is a Snr Cst who was forever calling persuits which would quickly end as other vehicles got close to the location. We were all starting to think he was not lighting them up, but just following till that point for a good story.. Well... one night he calls in persuit...we can hear the siren and motor screaming in the background... As he calls cross streets we think...ok headed this way... As we are making our way towards his called location we pass a side street and I catch a glimpse of a vehicle...
We double back and find him sitting in the car, siren blaring, motor reving, calling the locations from a street directory.....

        • How about "Yosemite Sam Asbell" the former camden County NJ prosecutor. He shot up his county car, then claimed he had a rolling gun battle with a car full of drug dealers and bangers. "I had to shoot back they were in (what turned out later was a 4 cylandir car) that drove 110 MPH. i know I shot one of them I saw his head explode.
Actually said that during a press conference. LEO everywhere were looking for anyone with a gsw in locals hospitals in 3 states. He had a security detail and everything. Took three weeks or so before it came out as fake. This happened in the 1980's I believe

LOL I wish I could've seen the look on his face when he got caught.

            For me:
-During the Academy(self sponsor) one guy that was constantly bragging and exagerating got hired. Kept bragging about how he would "Graduate in a police uniform while everyone else was wearing that dorky academy uniform."
-Guy worked for three months; then had a green Chevy Tahoe pull up to his house, driver said, "Hey officer...." Then opened fire on him at his house while he was unloading groceries. Apparently about 8 shots.
-State Police come out an investigate.
-No shell casings, no bullet holes. They interrogate this officer....and after about an hour of keeping his story straight, he folds. Made up the entire thing....No one knew why, maybe attention?
-He graduated in his "dorky academy uniform" on June 10th, the next day had his police certifcation revoked. He was a certified officer for about 12 hours

            • -Went to a party in uniform after work, where underage drinking was present. Got into a verbal dispute with someone and used his issued ASP baton to smash out all the person's car windows/lights. Fired and charged.

-Pulled traffic stops on young ladies at night, accused them of DUI and explained the only way to avoid being arrested was to flash him, while he used his cell phone to take picture/video of himself groaping them. It eventually caught up to him and he was fired and prosecuted. More recently, he was indicted for rape and assault charges against his estranged wife.

              Winners.

              • Forgot this guy I worked with in Rampart - a fellow sergeant, no less. I remember when, as sergeants, we'd be assigned the overdue/lon held party calls. My habit was to always wait at the edge of the party, have an attendee get the host and bring them to me, where I'd explain my presence and ask them to quiet down, leaving them the written loud party notice. Once I was attempting to do the same, when this "navy blue wool & black leather streak" walked past me and into theparty, screamed at the top of his lungs at the DJ "Turn that G--D--ned music off!" and threatened to arrest all present....at a party for a girl's First Communion. I rolled my eyes and left. Dave was a piece of work, alright.

Same guy was later rolled-up for stopping teen girls and doing pat-downs on them. Even Raphael Perez, the guy they modeled Denzel Washington's Training Day character after, thought Dave was a scumbag and looked down on him.

While Dave was on suspension, prior to being fired, his son died. The unit I later went to work at, assisted with arranging the funeral and the Department's charity paid $3K to help bury the son. Lost his son and his job...really sad, but he willingly gave away his job.

                • Guy up in my area got fired for robbing Hispanics on traffic stops. I hear he even wrote receipts when he gave them the "pay on the side of the road option."

Another guy up in my area got fired for stealing a car from a dealership and trying to file for a title on it as a "lost or abandoned vehicle."

                  • We had an officer go to the academy as a TAC officer (assisting the recruits). He decided a great way to flirt with the secretary was to print out some nasty hardcore porn and put it all over her desk. He might have squeaked by with his job if he'd just told the truth, but we'll never know because he kept lying right up until the moment they showed him his own computer logs downloading and printing it (on academy computers). He's working loss prevention now.

                          • We just had an ***hat get arrested for possessing child porn. Yes, a cop. He hasn't been fired YET, so I suppose it doesn't count for your thread....BUUUUUUUUT we all know it's coming. I hope the inmates find out he's an ex-cop-baby-raper.

Ok, we don't have any PROOF he molested any kids, but he wouldn't posses child porn if he didn't want to. F him.

Reminds me of a local campus cop that was taking pictures of his junk and sending it via text message to 12 year old girls.

His certification was revoked; but the D.A. dismissed the charges.

                              • We had one guy who was actually having his friends break-into houses while he was doing security checks on houses he knew were unoccupied. If there was ever an alarm to go off, he would tell dispatch to disregard... it was a false alarm. He's still in Federal Prison.

We had another guy who was "asked to resign," after it was discovered he would pawn his service weapon whenever he needed money.

There was also another Officer who I believe just got out of Prison for forcing prostitutes to have sex with him so he wouldn't take them to jail. It kind of back-fired on him when, after having sex with one of the prostitutes, he took her to jail anyway... she told on him.
