I understand that and didn't miss it. But the President is only in the federal chain of command. If you are talking about succession for the office of POTUS that is different. If you're refering to the POTUS as the Commander-in-Chief that is another chain-of-command.

So, what chain-of-command do you want?

That's my problem, I am not sure.. they told us "write down the chain of command from the president> vice president > down to your dept and you" not to clear thats why I asked for some of your opionons so I can get a big selection and add in as many as I could. The list that BS_CJ listed is what I was looking for. Thanks guys

The Presidential Succession Law of 1947 addressed the simultaneous disability of both the president and vice president. Under this law, here are the offices and current office holders who would become president should both the president and vice president be disabled. Remember, to assume the presidency, a person must also meet all the legal requirements to serve as president.

        # Vice President Dick Cheney

        # House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill.

        # Senate President Pro Tem Ted Stevens, R-Alaska

        # Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

        # Treasury Secretary John Snow

        # Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld

        # Attorney General Alberto Gonzales

        # Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff

        # Interior Secretary Gale A. Norton

        # Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns

        # Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez

        # Labor Secretary Elaine Chao

        # Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt

        # Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson

        # Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta

        # Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman

        # Education Secretary Margaret Spellings

        # Veterans Affairs Secretary Jim Nicholson

The Constitution, however, requires that the president be a natural-born citizen, so Gutierrez, born in Cuba, and Chao, born in Taiwan, would be ineligible.
