Pursuit policies at university PDs?

Is there an epidemic of pursuits at universities that we don't here about?

Often, the news will say: "The police arrested John Doe for kiddie porn" or "The police were involved in a high speed chase". They don't often specify with PD and people assume it is the city PD. That is one reason people don't realize what all we get into.

We have the two car rule. We can pursue with up to two units out of our jurisdiction. As soon as a city unit catches up, then one of ours must drop. When two city join, then the primary unit ceases but still follows until the pursuit is terminated.

Our policy clearly states that officers shall not engage in any high or low speed vehicle pursuits...Of course up until fairly recently our cruisers were all broken down pieces of **** so you wouldn't want to get into a chase anyway...We just got new 05 Explorers this spring but being that they're top heavy I'm not sure how safe they'd be in a chase.. Anyway I'm gonna be a little more selective in the next pd I go to...I getting sick of hearing the "We don't do that here Bull****"....
