  • Dr. Phil

    Hey Guys,

For all of you synics out there like me, I was happily suprised tonight. I usually watch the Dr. Phil show with my wife before I go to work on the graveyard shift (awwww!). Tonight, Dr. Phil was interviewing a Deputy Sheriff who was recovering from a gunshot wound to the face while on duty. The Deputy had half of his lower face removed as a result of the wound and was dealing with financial and emotional problems as a result of the incident. Dr. Phil set him up with a cosmetic surgeon, a plastic surgeon, and $50,000 worth of financial help, plus counseling. All of the services were donated by physicians and companies who respected the Deputy, and wanted to help.

Dr. Phil overheard the Deputy tell his father that he didn't deserve all of these good things, and he told him that he was shot representing him and everyone else and that he deserved it all, and then some.

This brings back my long faded belief that there are more good people out there than bad, and that most of them really care about us!

The Deputy also had started a help site on the internet for Officers in distress. I think it was Officerneedshelp.com.

The show made me proud to be on the job!

And last week he tore into some parents and a teenager about underage drinking/DUI. "What gives you the right to endagner me and my family when you drive like that, and Mom and Dad, what gives you the right to turn your head?" BRAVO! If only he were USSC Justice or my local magistrate.

We could use him on the bench or in the DA's office over here. Didn't realize the Dr. was like this. Maybe I will tune in from time to time now.

He's fairly outspoken when it comes to idiots. In fact one of his family members had acid thrown through her windshield while driving under a bridge somewhere. They are still looking for the li'l $hit. He's not one to mess around with feel good talks when it comes to actions which endanger others. He's still a little out there on some things, but he is definately pro-police.

While I never much cared for him and never watched him I now feel that he deserves a pass from all of us as he has earned it for helping this brother in distress. Good for him and glad to see some support for the active duty guys!

My wife would love it if I started watching this show.

Oprah could learn a thing or two from him.

Oprah's thing is Teachers, but imagine if it were cops??

Ok officers, look under chairs!! Tazers for everyone!!!!!!!

Can you hear Oprah saying, "When Steadman and are out on a date we enjoy wearing the newest body armour - Models if you please!" or "Officers, because you make such a diference everyday, there is a new CVPI with a working siren, lightbar, and a computer that's keys all work waiting for you parking lot!"

Can you see the camera panning the audience. Just the thought of having a key board that's letter "c" works, or not having to use a closed fist on the space bar between every word, would make me cry!

And I did see that Dr. Phil episode it was awesome. What a good guy.

I never paid attention to him before, he actually annoyed me when he first came out and his face was everywhere. I will now admit to not being very open to him, and apologize for stupid shi!t I probably said....

Thank you Dr. Phil! (I even promise to try to tune in now and then)

May the deputy have a quick and successful recovery from his surgeries.
