Hey Guys,
For all of you synics out there like me, I was happily suprised tonight. I usually watch the Dr. Phil show with my wife before I go to work on the graveyard shift (awwww!). Tonight, Dr. Phil was interviewing a Deputy Sheriff who was recovering from a gunshot wound to the face while on duty. The Deputy had half of his lower face removed as a result of the wound and was dealing with financial and emotional problems as a result of the incident. Dr. Phil set him up with a cosmetic surgeon, a plastic surgeon, and $50,000 worth of financial help, plus counseling. All of the services were donated by physicians and companies who respected the Deputy, and wanted to help.
Dr. Phil overheard the Deputy tell his father that he didn't deserve all of these good things, and he told him that he was shot representing him and everyone else and that he deserved it all, and then some.
This brings back my long faded belief that there are more good people out there than bad, and that most of them really care about us!
The Deputy also had started a help site on the internet for Officers in distress. I think it was Officerneedshelp.com.
The show made me proud to be on the job!
