  • k9 cage insert?

Can anybody help me with finding a K9 cage insert for a 2004 Chev, Trailblazer. I'm having absolutely no luck and would rather not have one custom made. Thanks in advance...

Contact www.RayAllen.com. While they do not specifically list a TrailBlazer model they could either tell you if a model for another SUV would work or where you could find one.

I will hit you back tomorrow...i have a friend who's department's K9 unit is running a Durango and a Trailblazer. I'll see what they are using.

Like someone else said...Ray Allen is an excellent place to start.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I got in contact with Ray allen today and they do not carry anything for the Trailblazer. Only a generic box that goes in the back but that might be something to consider.

          k9 insert

There are some other venders out there that you might want to check. American Aluminum.com has inserts, Castle k-9. com has a section on inserts. Run a search via a search engine and see what you get.

Personal opinion if you are working your dog for patrol, one of the boxes in the rear of your vehicle is a real pain in the rear if you need to get your dog out in a hurry. If you have a single purpose detector canine one of those boxes may work just fine.

You could also look at the possibility of getting the measurements of an insert for another vehicle, see how close it is to fitting in your Trailblazer and then tweaking it a little to fit your needs.

Well, the department I was talking about did a "home made" cage for their Trailblazer. They removed the seat and installed a custom made plywood floor covered with a rubberized material. They used a standard cage between the front and back seats and a dog gate type thing between the backseat and the cargo area. Obviously, this isn't an ideal situation and from the sound of it, they regret buying the vehicle.

Sorry I couldn't help you out more.

As previously mentioned, you might want to call American Aluminum in Florida. I've used their product a few times now and have been happy with the quality and service.
