Fifteen years Reserve - then two part-time - then finished with thirty years and seven months full-time.

Total of FORTY SIX YEARS AND SEVEN MONTHS.

Started in August of 1968 and retired this past January 31st.

All with the same agency and worked for four different Sheriffs.

Miss the people - - don't miss the "Bravo Sierra".
"Yes sir, I know you have rights."
"In fact, I know your rights better than you do!"

          Yours^^^^?

I would have remained longer but my arms weren’t long enough for additional service stripes

Not yet for me. About to hit the 14th year mark. Good job surviving to all those that have made it that long. When I say survive I mean from bad guys and admin.
Where'd you learn that, Cheech? Drug school?

30 Or More Years On The Job?

My first paid cop job was March 1980. I was 19 years old at the time. My oldest son is now 19 years old. Fortunately, he is no longer interested in police work. I can't imagine him, or maybe anybody in this day and age, doing cop work at 19 year old. I suppose it is hypocritical of me to say that since I am basically saying do as I say, not as I do (or did). The flips side is police work has changed.

For me, 35 if you include the year I was hall monitor in fifth grade; 37 if you count my years as Conservator of the Forum.

had a 7 month break in 1984 (me and sheriff didn't get along, I won a battle, he won the war)
                          had a 6 month break in 2011 (retirement is golden------but I couldn't stay away)
Right at 38 yrs as of today give or take a month or so

Probably get another 6 or 7 in depending on my health
My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

Well by some estimates then I guess you could say I got 39 in now. ( not really sure why) Retired from full-time then immediately (and still am ) went to Reserves for a variety of reasons. My agency looks at it as still time on, so I guess it's fair?
