    Where to buy "Out of service" signs for police vehicles

    Well it seems my department has no "Out of service" signs. We need them when civilians take our vehicles to the car wash, off base etc.

    I'd like to find a place online that sales them so I can give the information to our support services officer.

      I just Googled "Magnetic Signs" and got 85,000 hits. I'd bet Galls has them in a variety of shapes and sizes too.

          I don't know if they have them for regular straight light bars, but we have the Federal Signal Vision V-bars, and they have black covers that go on the light bar and make it pretty abvious the car is out of service as well.

                              Why are civilians driving police vehicles which are otherwise fully functioning? What's stopping one of these civilian employees from pulling to the side of the road, taking the "Out of Service" sign off and playing cop? If our vehicles need transported somewhere, one of the office staff, an officer on light duty, a detective, etc drives it where it needs to go. NEVER does a civilian drive a police car.
