    Merrell shoes
Cool web belts(can also be worn off duty if you so choose)
    Cool watch
    dry-fit t-shirts in black/dark blue/OD green only
lots of cool black gear bags/backpacks(like the web belts, these can also be used off duty for weekends away or overnight trips with the significant other. No more regulation luggage for you...)
    Subdued American Flag baseball cap
Cool soundtrack on your ipod/mp3 player

Congrats and good luck to you. Be a big sponge during school and always check those hard corners....

I totally forgot about the "air guns" with your hands clearing rooms and the clothing requirements. Another thing that is your answer to everything...."Good Times!"

CS gas isn't that bad. if you've been oc'd, CS is nothing. makes your skin burn a little bit, but it's alright. I was on Corrections CERT (basically swat for the prisons) and we used it all the time. i'd 10x rather be hit with CS/CN than OC.

I think the process back home was basically a physical and then allowing the already existent members to beat you up. If you got through it you were in.

Congrats on the position. Our PD does a pre-acceptance bi annually, with around 40-50 applicants each testing. Maybe 2 guys per year get the call. Never mind the SWAT roll, that is so Hollyweird. You just need to walk around everywhere using the groucho walk, with your hands up / open, fingers pointed forward, in the "air rifle", low ready position, while clearing every room you enter around the station.

We get paid just the same waiting as hurry upping. At least until we hit OT. Sometimes waiting has its advantages.

Oh yea, and the one size too small under armor shirt works. We wear OD not Black.

Don't forget the SWAT roll when you get out of your squad for the first day of training. That will totally impress them.

Add the one-size smaller than you wear, black, form-fitting, Under Armor tee-shirt, and be sure to throw the word 'breach' into every few sentences.

Definitely. If they wanted to make it a more realistic test, they should have you standing out in the freezing rain for hours on end while they discuss "options" in a nice warm command post down the road....
