Panasonic Arbitrator Installation

We just bought 2 panasonic arbitrator vid. cam systems. Included was basic installation but the company wanted to sell us a 2 day install for $2500 per camera. How hard are these to install with a good "car equipment" officer and our IT person? Should we try it ourselves or bite the bullet and pay the $5K install?

How good are your Officer and IT Guy? If they're good, really good, you might pull it off. Read the small print though, and be certain you won't void any warranties by having your guys install the system. All this advice from a guy who has trouble re-booting a computer. Just my .02 though.

Uhhh, I think 5K is a little steep to instal 2 camera systems that the company sold your agency. I had a In car video system with external and internal microphones installed by the company that sold us the unit 'Free" and in 3 hours time. What does "Basic installation" mean ?? An unreasonable amount of time ??? Sounds like the makings of a RIP OFF..

My outfit uses the Kustom EyeWitness digital system with removable DVD-RAM disc (single or double-sided in type IV cassette) and our automotive techs install the system. However, neither they nor our computer support people know how to repair them, and we frequently have problems with same (stops and thinks the disc is unreadable after recording on that disc for several hours, or several recordings, will not shut off properly, etc). Maybe having the company techs do the install will be worth the money spent?
