  • Sgt Joe Friday speech

I did a search because I thought I would find it on here posted already.
I couldn't seem to locate a thread though, so I figured I would post a link.

If the link below doesn't work, here is the direct link to the page:

It might play right here by clicking play:

Ok, that was the best thing I've heard in a very long time. Thanks.

That speech was from an episode where a U/C boot officer was accused of committing a robbery on duty and was being interviewed by Friday. Because of this the officer was down and ready to quit and mad at the dept for not just taking his word that he didn't do anything. This speech was to remind him why he was a cop. Right after this speech they came in and said that they caught the real suspect and the officer was cleared of any wrong doing.

      I like that speech.

The name of the episode was "The Big Interrogation." Good speech by Joe. He had another one in "The Big LSD" about drugs.

Great Speech, I started digging around on youtube today after seeing this video and came across another video that I would like to share with you about a Special Agent. We always hear or see the stories about parents who tell kids "Be good or that police officer will take you away." While it is about a Federal Agent... It is nice to see that aside from locking up the bad ones, some people portray us as helping the good ones in need too...

This video for some reason put that lump in my throat... I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

I recall the Dragnet episode where Sgt. Joe Friday made this speech. It's a classic. The rookie in question was portrayed by Kent Mc Chord who later portrayed Officer Jim Reed in Jack Webb's "Adam 12". The Dragnet episode where the speech was made took place something like forty years ago. The message is as true today as it was then.

I love Adam-12, Dragnet, and Emergency. I, of course, wasn't around until 1982, but I grew up with the reruns on Nick at Nite and later TV Land. I also remember the episode and speech in question.
