Inmate Spit

How many of you have been spat on... or worse. and how did you react? I got caught on the right side of the face before with a nice lougie once. I don't ever remember being as mad as I was that day. I was able to keep my cool and restrain the inmate, but I would be a liar if I said I was not on fire on the inside.

Have not been spit/thrown on yet.....but I know the day is coming, It is only a matter of time. How will I handle it?? I would hope to stay professional, but I believe that I would snap and find the nearest area that is off-camera and go about with a SERIOUS Tune-UP!!!!!!

You name it and I have had it spit/thrown on me.
All I will say is my reaction has always been in relation to my location.
Booking area has 24/7 computerized audio/video.
Other areas do not.
Nuff said.

Remember this though, please.
You never have a knee jerk reaction by striking an inmate who has spit on you.
You might though, quickly turn his face in an opposite direction so that he could not longer spit at you/ on you thus reducing the possibility of transference of blood-borne or bodily fluid-borne pathogens.

I had a mouthful of food spit on me. Knowing the inmate was special needs, i did not punch him in the face (which i braced myself to do). In NJ, and bodily fluid is considered aggravated assault on a police officer. Never seen gasing at my facility, but we do get spit on every now and then.

Its happened to me a number of times in the feds. I did not/could not do anything about it because its the feds. It happened to me once in the state. We beat his *** like rodney king.

I was escorting a handcuffed inmate to segregation a year and a half or so ago when he spit directly into my face and eyes. I "placed" him on the concrete floor to prevent further assault. Then leaned in and my or may not have whispered: "That's a felony Mother F'er"
He's now doing an additional 2 years 4 months for Malicious Conduct by a Prisoner.

I did have an inmate shove his own fecal matter under his cell door and told me to eat it.
I honestly laughed at him and told him he was disgusting.
He just stood there and smiled like he had accomplished something great

I was spit on escorting a Seg also, he was "placed" on the wall and then assisted to the floor, continued resisting and was subdued by responding additional staff members.

I've also been hit with ****, but unfortunately idiot was in his cell so all I could legally do was write him a case for it.

The only time a camera is present is when we call for the video camera so until the camera arrives......

I had one that was urinating through the holding cell bars and trying to get it on officers. I told him to sheath his unit, he failed to do so and I put two shots in his face and one on his yogurt slinger.
I changed his religion instantly.
