CERT Members

I was just wondering who all on here are members of you facility CERT/SORT team. Also how often and how long do you train for?

At my facility we only get to train one day a month and that can't be more than 8 hours of training. otherwise we have to take comp time for anything over the 8 hours.

I also want to know what qualifications have to be met in order to become a member. Ours is a min of 1 year with the department as a C.O. and shooting scores of 85 or better. plus passing an interview board and being appointed by the COS and warden.

I am already a CERT member so i am just interested in other states and facilities.

We have a varied training schedule, usually once or twice a month. To get on the team you have to be off original probation (1 year), have adequate firearms scores, and pass an oral board. Once on the team you have to pass the Cooper's Test and successfully complete a formal academy program. It's not easy.
