the 4-6 hours is an estimate. As far as whats done, Usually those two things (obviously) but there will also be some administrative things. Also they could have several folks scheduled for the same day so it can depend on how fast they can get everyone through. You could end up being done sooner.

      Good Luck

What would one typically wear to the Ua/Medical/Physical? I am just wondering so I dont show up like a goofball in a suit, or under-dressed. I am also assuming it involves the typical vision, hearing, and blood work types of things for the physical?

I just went through my interview yesterday, so what I'm saying is based off that. I showed up in a suit. After the panel interview, they escorted me to the medical building where they did the physical and UA. So for me, my suit was my attire. Same with the guy that interviewed before me. He did his in a suit as well. That is just my experience though. Others may have a different view.

When I did my UA/Med/Physical/Fingerprints at Terre Haute for another facility, the guy said to be in Business attire. Before asking I assumed since it was a physical either business casual or "work out" clothes. I went in suit and tie because worst that could happen is it's harder to get dressed. Suit worked out just fine because it isn't a unclothe type of physical/medical.

That's exactly what I would assume, so what does the physical consist of if not your typical taking the birthday suit off to an extent? I guess I'll wear the fancy suit after all, again it's better than under dressing. Still waiting to hear back from Victorville for it though. Thx for your help.

you can't go wrong with a suit however business casual (long sleeve shirt with tie etc) is fine. Remember the ones watching you are already sizing you up without you saying a word.

Basic vitals and etc. They use to do a hearing test with normal conversation type noises, watch you walk for a minute. They use to require a chest X ray but do change things time to time.

If you can chew gum and walk your probably OK!

One thing about BOP is 119 (ish) institutions and none of them are on the same page at the same time. Some take a while to catch up.

I remeber during the oral board they had a senario about a fog line watch. They said Victorville almost never gets fog but they still had to ask the question.

                  • When I did the Panel for Victorville in 07, instead of using the fog line scenario they asked what would we do if we were up in the tower, an a inmate was making a run for the fence line...

They asked about that as well and asked me to explain in my own words the reason for the 3 step process w/ stopping the threat. I actually liked my oral board because the LT turned up the heat here and there to see if I would stick to my answers. You know some people give pre-packaged answers just to kiss tail and sound good.

Congrats! I still have not heard anything from Victorville, though you did process with them before I did. I am still dealing with the devils in my head about taking the BOP CO job if offered to me, or holding out for other jobs I have pending. Just seems that the BOP is moving along far faster than some of the other federal agencies. Maybe I can get some of you guys valuable opinions, along with experiences. I have applied and been referred with the VA Police in Palo Alto starting almost 54,000yr, as well as the U.S. Mint Police in Colorado with somewhat the same salary, and lastly with the Amtrak Police in Oakland with an unknown start salary. What do you guys think?

At the end of the day where do you want to be and what are your career goals?
Inmate: Why y'all treat us like criminals
Me: you really want an answer to that
                            Inmate: Man thats crazy CO

Thanks Bud! It was almost a month on the nail from when I did the interview until I got the Eqip, Drug/medical email. Hopefully you will hear something soon! I cant give my opinion on those Fed jobs because I've never worked fed LEO. I do have a buddy that worked VA Police and left because he stated that it did not fall under the Fed LEO retirement. I want to say it is under the 0083 series which is like the marine corp PD etc. When you say Amtrak police in Oakland do you mean BART police or do you actually mean Amtrak? I've from that area and hear people from out of town refer to BART as Amtrak, the train, choo choo train etc lol. I have to echo Hapkidoka's question. What are your career goals?
