  • Is it odd that I never got a written conditional offer? I feel like things are moving along in that direction. I don't think BOP would spend that kind of money for these things if it wasn't going that direction.

    • They probably won't give a conditional offer till you do the ua and physical. ..I did everything In one day

      • Thank you. I'm just so excited and really want this. I know that they are hiring a whole class, but I don't know how far along anyone else is in the process. I'm not worried about the BI or physical and they can drug test me everyday and twice on Sundays, so in your opinion I will get an offer?
        @Rmodel-which facility are you in?

        • Be patient. You'll get it, especially if you're female .

            • If you have completed all of the pre-employment steps and you haven't received your firm offer, call or email your HR Specialist and ask for it. I was less than two weeks out from the day they verbally told me to report for IF and still didn't have my firm offer. One telephone call to the HR Specialist and it was in my mailbox two days later.

              • Thank you. I don't want to give notice until I have the firm offer in hand.

                • I just came back from FLETC and I have a question that I couldn't seem to get a straight answer on. If I'm off duty and attacked by a former inmate or inmates friend/family, and I discharge my off-duty weapon at the threat, will BOP have my back legally?

                      BOP won't be involved in any way. You're on your own. I'm not a lawyer but I'd say I'd be pretty damn comfortable defending my family from someone attacking them.

                        Officially, you're on your own no matter what when you're off duty. Realistically, if it's clear from the start that you were 1,000% right and universally declared a hero for your actions, the BOP will ride your coat tails for the publicity. If the above conditions do not exist, you're on your own and the BOP will disown you the instant it appears the investigation or public opinion is going against you.

                        Consider LEOSA to be nothing more than a private concealed carry license good in all 50 states as previously stated.

                          Despite what some say in the case of using deadly force because a former inmate attacking you DOJ/BOP has no choice but to cover you. That is one if the only scenarios that the BOP/DOJ would step in.

                          Not much could go wrong on your part unless you walk up and engage when they are setting there just being a citizen. Know when you can and can't use deadly force. That is the biggest problem i see. As a lead dfirearms the amount t of staff that have no idea because I ask in all my classes and get the deer in the headlights look.

                              Being it's a low, doubt it's an OT heaven. Probably some but not like Victorville sometimes those incentives are offered to keep people there. Often times folks get on and transfer back home after their year
