    Snicker, snicker

The PTis arduous---------------I think the hike from the parking lot to the classroom is about 20 yards. Do you remember the PT test you took to get on the hiring list......................that is as much PT as you will ever see working for the Iowa DOC.--------------Oh wait, there isn't a PT test.

DT/Use of Force training........................non existent. (if you are taught anything it will be at the instituition)

Stay at Camp Dodge in a barracks. the Iowa Corrections LEARNING CENTER (it is NOT an academy) is at the Central Office in the Capitol Complex.

Eat at whatever restaurant you can find that will feed you within the state reimbursement guidelines

Its 3 weeks of lecture...........................lectue only no hands on at all execpt when you go to Newton to learn how to do cell searches. You will have a test at the end of each week, that most people could pass if they slept thru the class.

You learned more in jail school than you will at ICLC.

            IDOC Acadamy I mean ICLC!

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like core is actually were I may learn something I may need to use. Not meant as a put down but from the looks of a few Oakdale CO's I knew there wasn't a lot of PT required after ICLC. Thought there might be some during ICLC. From what you described I'm ready for the academy PT. I aced the pre-hire PT test. I was told that it would be a test of my endurance to stay awake at the classes. Good training for 2200-0600 B Block shift. I'm looking forward to getting through all this so I be certified and can walk the center unescorted and actually score some over time. With the cut in pay I took I need 3 extra shifts a week to get back to what I was making. No complaint, just fact. I knew what I was agreeing to when I took the position. They had SD training yesterday, the CO I worked with today had a big gash on his head from his partners key keeper during a 2 leg take down. He was laughing about it. He did complain that they only do it once a yet though.
