  • Arizona County Detention Officer VS. State Corrections

Anyone familiar with agencies in Arizona. Just wondering the pros and cons of working for Maricopa County Sheriff as a Detention Officer VS Working as a Corrections Officer for the state of Arizona.

The County pays more but I am more interested in long-term career options.

    Any insight appreciated.

    Thanks
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Not that familiar with AZ but on another board I frequent ...........the AZDOC officers are complaining that the governor has just signed legislation to allow private corrections the opportunity to BUY current state facilities.

The budget is so out of wack that the state needs the revenue.

State DOC is usually pretty safe as far as job security...............there are ups and downs that last a minute or two , but in the long run pretty safe.
Prisons are a growth industry in the US which means that there will be plenty of chances for promotions if you are willing to move around the system and not stay at one facility.

      Thanks and crazy

      Thanks Iowa!

I can't believe it is ethical to make prisons private! Especially when you consider that inmates are a captive labor force. Kind of seems like a conflict of interest.

What's the other Corrections website you use, I haven't been able to find one with much activity.

      Thanks Again

Captive labor has nothing to do with it........................the private prison just is a prison that is run by a business.....they don't have a inmate labor force

        PM me for the site
